Raw Weight Loss

I’m going raw. Two pregnancies, and many, many pounds that simply won’t come off no matter the diet. Raw, simply feels right. I’ll be journaling my adventure here.

  • I need to profess my current love affair with the avocado. I think about them, crave them, fondle them in the grocery store to find the perfect fruits. I’ve had guacamole for dinner two nights in a row, and that’s what I want to eat all day tomorrow too. Since I am trying to lose weight, I really should limit myself, plus I highly doubt a mono diet of guacamole is really all that healthy :-)

My stomach has been bothering me today. I’m not sure if I’ve eaten something slightly off, or if I just need to get things (ahem) moving along a little better. Hopefully, this will clear up by tomorrow.

I stuck with green smoothies throughout the day, as I couldn’t really stomach solid food earlier. I had 2 quarts of green smoothies over the course of the morning/afternoon.  I also brought a ton of fruit with me to work, but I couldn’t eat it. I did have no problem eating a half of a raw chocolate bar from Shazzie.  Dinner of course was guacamole, with baby carrots. When I ran out of baby carrots I grabbed a slice of sprouted grain bread, and heaped my guacamole on that.

My body seems to be happier if I eat at least a little cooked food, maybe this will change the longer I consume more raw foods. I find if I stay 100% raw for more than a few days, then I start to insatiably crave junk. I’d rather have the odd piece of bread, rice, or even a bit of chicken than end up on a junk food binge. I’d say that currently, on a weekly average I’m a little over 75% raw. That’s pretty awesome considering what I ate before!

I haven’t been keeping up with my excerise plan this week. We got so busy redecorating the house, and then my littlest one who’s two, was very sick last night. Neither my husband nor I got much sleep, so we passed out earlier tonight after the kids went to sleep. Of course, I woke up at 1am, and here I am still up. It’ll be a long night.

    My weight today was 223.4

Have you tried avocado oil when you’re cooking? not only is it tasty but it’s low in saturated fats, making it a great source of good fats and I just had some courgettes/zucchinis fried in it, I think I just found a new favourite food!

Before having kids of my own, I was critical of women who had kids and had gained weight and seemed to let themselves go. I have a new found understanding of what it is like to be overwhelmed with small children and not have the luxery of working at whenever you want. I also know how hungry breastfeeding makes you and it is difficult to lose weight with all of these factors combined. It takes a lot of organization and commitment! I am hoping to take off 15 pounds in the next few months, most of all, I want to be healthy so I can keep up with my supercharged children.
